A Brief History of Jews for Jesus

The plaque at Jews for Jesus Headquarters in San Francisco reads "Jews for Jesus: EST. 32 A.D. Give or Take a Year."

Our name tells who we are, who we stand for and what we do. Everything is right up front! While we might have chosen a less controversial name, Jews for Jesus is the one that most quickly, easily and accurately lets people know who we are and what we are about.

Sometimes people ask us, "How long has Jews for Jesus been around?" We love that question because it gives us the chance to grin and say: "Since 32 A.D., give or take a year." The joke reminds people that a minority of Jewish people have always believed and proclaimed the gospel, and that we follow in that same tradition.

Actually, "Jews for Jesus" began as a slogan. In the late 1960s a moving of the Holy Spirit brought thousands of cause-oriented young people to faith in Jesus, many of whom were Jewish. As for our organization, Moishe Rosen officially founded Jews for Jesus in September of 1973. Rosen, a veteran missionary to the Jewish people, was the executive director of the mission for 23 years. He revolutionized evangelistic methods and materials with his creative approach to communicating the gospel, and we believe he was the foremost strategist and tactician in the field of Jewish evangelism.

Thank you, I feel Jews for Jesus is a continuation of Jesus's message. His Holy Spirit is alive and well.

Is the original founder of J4J, Moishe Rosen, still actively engaged in the work?

It is wonderful that Jews For Jesus exists. We all have always been united under one GOD since the beginning of time. May we all remind others in our daily lives of this reality.

The false apostle Paul FOUNDED christianity in Antioch in Syria where the disciples of Paul "were FIRST called christians" (Acts 11:26). "Moishe Rosen officially FOUNDED Jews for Jesus in September of 1973" (Extract from "Brief History of Jews for Jesus") Both of these FOUNDERS and their PROMOTERS have made MUCH MONEY from their evil endeavours and are ripe for "The lake of fire" (Revelation). i am really over joyed to know that JFJ exist. Though i am not surprised for God has always left a remnant and promised the final salvation of his chosen. I ask simply if JFJ is legit and believes in faith, grace, baptism and the full principles of Christ to petition him daily for me and my family that we me serve him together in heaven

How can Moishe Rosen be part of Christian organisation that sets out to deceive his fellow Jews? For example in your document 'How to be saved' you quote the words of Psalm 14:2-3 from The Tanakh and seek to equate those same words with the lies of the false apostle Paul in Romans 3:23. Why do you do this? You clearly and no doubt DELIBERATELY did not include the words of Psalm 14:1 which make it plain that verses 2-3 are written ONLY concerning "the fool...who eat up My people (The Jews)" (Psalm 14:1,4) and were not written concerning "MY PEOPLE...the RIGHTEOUS GENERATION" (Psalm 14:4,5). Why do you use such deceitful tactics? Unlike 'Jews for jesus', I do "Believe that Yeshuwa' is HaMashiyach the Only begotten son of The Mighty One of Yisrael (The Only True Elohiym)". Samuel Eben

I am 50 and have been saved just over 7 years, better late than never! Although I was rasied more or less (mostly less) a Catholic my Dad was Greek Othodox. His Mothers maiden name was Stillman Her first name was Bessie. Unfortunatly when asked about possible Jewish heritage they denied it LOUDLY. I know we are all one in Christ but it makes me very happy to think I may have Jewish blood in my veins. I also wonder about the 144,000, could we be that close, only 44 thousand to go!

I've been studying the Tanakh (called "old testament" by most of the world) and the prophecy about the Messiah impressed me. Pretty much in every book of the scriptures I found many details about him. I just had to wonder why I was never taught about this, but now it´s obvious to me that David and the prophets were talking about Jesus.

I think it is awesome that Jews for Jesus exists and I pray that your ministry goes beyond the 100,000 estimated Jews for Jesus currently in existence. Perhaps Jews for Jesus is the precursor for the 144,000 that Revelations speaks of. Now that is an exciting thought. I have Jewish friends who are extremely wonderful and kind people but would not dream of approaching them about Christ because of their strong beliefs in Judaism.
